April Severino Kennedy is an award-winning speaker, literacy consultant, former principal, and educator. She is a dynamic and energetic presenter whose accolades include being Florida’s Teacher of the Year and a nominee for Disney’s American Teacher Award.
She has also been a keynote and featured speaker at many state reading conferences. She has gained recognition nationwide for improving reading and writing scores in struggling and high-performing schools.
With almost 30 years of academic experience, literacy remains April’s passion. She understands the importance of constructing a learning environment that maximizes students' ability to learn effectively. April specializes in up-to-date, research-based, proven strategies for reading and writing. She assists schools in finding the inspiration, courage, and resources to nurture a joyful and authentic literacy classroom. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida.
