April Severino Kennedy is an award-winning speaker, literacy consultant, former principal, and educator. She is a dynamic and energetic presenter whose accolades include being Florida’s Teacher of the Year and a nominee for Disney’s American Teacher Award.

She has also been a keynote and featured speaker at many state reading conferences. She has gained recognition nationwide for improving reading and writing scores in struggling and high-performing schools.

With almost 30 years of academic experience, literacy remains April’s passion. She understands the importance of constructing a learning environment that maximizes students' ability to learn effectively. April specializes in up-to-date, research-based, proven strategies for reading and writing. She assists schools in finding the inspiration, courage, and resources to nurture a joyful and authentic literacy classroom. As a full-time literacy and content coach, she brings standards and curriculum to life by empowering teachers and students to thrive by transforming learning experiences into engaging and effective practices. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida.
