Juli Dixon reveals six ways educators undermine efforts to increase student achievement and then shares what to do about it. These teaching practices are commonplace and often required by administrators or districts. Many of them may have been generated from practices in English language arts and might work very well in that content area. As a result of this session, participants will see why such practices are often unproductive when applied during mathematics instruction and also assist in generating a plan for what to do about them.

Participants will:

  • Make sense of six (un)productive mathematics teaching practices
  • Explore reasons for why the practices exist
  • Learn productive strategies to counteract any inherent difficulties

    Yes, you can join a book study at any time during its live broadcast.

    Will a copy of the book be provided to participants?
    No, a copy of the book will not be provided. You may order the book at any time. We encourage you to have a copy of the book to more closely follow along with the presenter, but having a copy of the book is not required.

    Do you offer certification or proof of attendance?
    Certificates are provided to attendees of live book study sessions only. Certificates are emailed to all attendees of live sessions approximately one week after the webinar. Certificates are not provided to viewers of recorded sessions.
