Doug Lillydahl

Doug Lillydahl

Doug Lillydahl is director of communication arts at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Illinois. He guides literacy interventions and ELA staff development, oversees assessment and achievement data, and supports curricular and instructional evolution in the school’s professional learning community.

Doug has worked in education for over 25 years, including as an English and American studies teacher. In addition to teaching at Stevenson and two years in Germany, he spent six years as department chair at Mundelein High School in Illinois, raising overall pass rates in reading—and among Hispanic students in particular—to school records. Doug is a former curricular team leader, award-winning swim team coach, and activity sponsor.

He is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Council of Teachers of English, Learning Forward, International Literacy Association, and Illinois Principals Association.

Doug earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and organizational behavior from Stanford University, English teaching certification from the University of Washington, and a master’s degree in administrative leadership in education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
