As a result of her work as a district leader, reading interventionist, and classroom teacher, Erica has helped to build the collaborative cultures necessary to guide teams in the process of unpacking, prioritizing, and pacing standards.

Erica Martin

Erica Martin is a literacy specialist at Kildeer Countryside School District 96, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. As a result of her work as a district leader, reading interventionist, and classroom teacher, Erica has helped to build the collaborative cultures necessary to guide teams in the process of unpacking, prioritizing, and pacing standards.

Erica’s work has focused on leading teachers in creating targets, developing learning progressions, and designing assessments. She works to support teachers with ongoing, job-embedded support in implementing best practices in literacy and engagement as well as instruction and assessment practices that improve student learning.

Kildeer Countryside District 96 was recognized as a Model PLC at Work® after Erica began there, and her middle school has been awarded two Blue Ribbon Awards of Excellence. She has also received a Those Who Excel Award for excellence in middle school literacy coaching.

Erica holds master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction and literacy education along with a reading specialist certification from Northern Illinois University.
