Janet Andreasen

Janet Andreasen, PhD, is a mathematics specialist at The Geneva School in Casselberry, Florida. She has also worked in higher education for more than 17 years and has experience working with both practicing and prospective mathematics teachers at all levels. At The Geneva School, she teaches mathematics and supports teachers and students in all grades. As a teacher, she has implemented standards-based practices and discourse-based classrooms and utilizes technology to foster conceptual understanding. Her work also includes mathematics knowledge for teaching and equitable teaching practices

Dr. Andreasen has written books, book chapters, and articles for state and national publications. She is a member of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

She received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Miami and a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in mathematics education from the University of Central Florida.
