Janet Gilbert, PhD, is an elementary school principal in the Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona. With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Gilbert has served as a general education teacher, special education teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. She is also an adjunct professor at Phoenix College and has worked with student learners from preschool to college.
For more than 10 years, Dr. Gilbert has led a Title I school. Her campus has been recognized as a Model PLC at Work® school, an A+ School of Excellence, and a Leader in Me Lighthouse School.
Dr. Gilbert earned a bachelor’s degree in general education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in early childhood education with an emphasis in reading from Northern Arizona University, and a doctorate in general psychology with an emphasis in cognition and instruction from Grand Canyon University.
