Janet Gilbert

Janet Gilbert, PhD, is the lead instructional coach for Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona. With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Gilbert has served as a general education teacher, special education teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, and adjunct professor. She is a coauthor of a book on resilient school leaders.

For more than 13 years, Dr. Gilbert has led a Title I school. Her campus was recognized as a Model PLC at Work® school, an A+ School of Excellence, and a Leader in Me Lighthouse School.

Dr. Gilbert earned a bachelor’s degree in general education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in early childhood education with an emphasis in reading from Northern Arizona University, and a doctorate in general psychology with an emphasis in cognition and instruction from Grand Canyon University.
