Josh Ogilvie

Josh Ogilvie is a teacher, speaker, and learner who is passionate about sound assessment and grading practices that empower students in their learning and contribute to the development of the whole child. He has led teachers, schools, and districts through curriculum change, instructional strategies, and assessment and grading practices.

An educator for more than 20 years, Josh has had a diverse range of teaching and leadership experiences as a classroom teacher, department chair, district leader, university instructor, and curriculum development and implementation professional with the department of education. He also volunteers to support teachers and to lead educational change at the provincial and national levels in Canada.

As a presenter, Josh has a strong passion for helping educators explore and break down issues related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, grading, and communicating student learning. He has helped teachers, schools, districts, and other educational stakeholders across Canada discover local solutions to complex challenges in pursuit of the goal of all students learning at high levels.

He has received numerous recognitions and awards throughout his career, such as the ASCD Emerging Leader in Education Award, National Health Promoting Schools recognition, and the National Award for Quality PHE (Canada).

Josh holds bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology and education from the University of New Brunswick. He also earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Vancouver Island University.
