Mario Miner, a native of Hamtramck, Michigan, has been in education for nearly 20 years. As a former working-class student, Mario strives to help his scholars see themselves and their lives in his classroom by building their capacity for literacy.

Mario Miner, a native of Hamtramck, Michigan, has been in education for nearly 20 years. Shortly after graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in English in 2002, Mario began to serve elementary school children as a site director. After earning his master’s degree in teaching from the University of Michigan in 2006, Mario moved to the metropolitan Atlanta area to begin his teaching career at Stephenson High School.
Finding his passion as an Advanced Placement English language teacher, Mario has earned DeKalb County School District Regional Teacher of the Year (2013) and STAR Teacher (2013–2016) honors. Additionally, Mario serves as an AP consultant and AP English language question leader. As a former working-class student, Mario strives to help his scholars see themselves and their lives in his classroom by building their capacity for literacy.
