In her current role, she facilitates strategic planning and executive coaching, contributing to the advancement of educational leadership.
Throughout her career at FHSD, Mary held several pivotal roles, including chief academic officer, where she led improvement efforts at both the building and district levels. As the director of adult learning and program evaluation, she meticulously planned, implemented, and evaluated districtwide professional development programs for teachers and administrators, including support for professional learning communities. Additionally, Mary has taught courses on quality instruction and special education administration at Lindenwood University.
Mary's extensive background includes roles as a special education teacher, director of special education, and director of assessment. She has collaborated with educators both locally and nationally as a consultant and presenter, sharing her expertise on various educational topics. Notably, she has been awarded grants to support behavioral intervention programs in several schools and was selected to attend the Harvard Institute for School Leadership for Large-Scale Improvement. In 2010, she graduated from the National Staff Development Academy. Known for her engaging, powerful, and humorous presentation style, Mary is well-versed in school improvement and professional learning communities (PLCs). She excels in topics such as pyramids of intervention, navigating cultures of change, and implementing research-based instructional strategies.
Mary holds an undergraduate degree in special education from St. Louis University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Missouri–St. Louis, and a doctorate from Lindenwood University. Her academic background and professional experiences make her a respected and influential figure in the field of education.
