Mignon Smith

Mignon Smith is an Assistant Principal at a middle school in the District of Columbia. Previously, she served as a math instructional specialist (grades K-8), curriculum planner, math department chair, grade level chair and math and physics teacher. She has taught in public, charter and private school environments across elementary, middle, and high school.

Mignon Smith

Mignon Smith is an Assistant Principal at a middle school in the District of Columbia. Previously, she served as a math instructional specialist (grades K-8), curriculum planner, math department chair, grade level chair and math and physics teacher. She has taught in public, charter and private school environments across elementary, middle, and high school. Mignon is passionate about supporting high-quality instruction in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), building and sustaining positive school cultures and working with underrepresented student populations.

Mignon is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM).

Mignon was selected as Teacher of Year at an early college high school in 2010, which operated under the professional learning community (PLC) philosophy. She was selected as a member of the 2015 Leading Educators cohort and, in 2016 Mignon was selected as an Intern for Building Excellent Schools Summer Leader.

Mignon earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Tuskegee University. She went on to earn a master degree in Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management and is currently working on completing a masters degree in Learning Design & Technology from the University of Southern California.
