Delia E. Racines, PhD, has served in a variety of educational roles in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Over the past 17 years, Dr. Racines has focused on ensuring equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students.

Delia E. Racines

Delia E. Racines, PhD, has served as a principal, assistant principal, instructional coach, teacher, content designer, and adjunct professor in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Over the past 17 years, Dr. Racines has focused on building leadership capacity and coaching programs to ensure equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students.

Dr. Racines currently oversees the School Business Management Certificate Program and the Reading and Literacy Added Authorization Program at the University of Southern California. She also continues to lead various professional development initiatives in addition to building coaching programs from the ground up across the country. Dr. Racines effectively transitioned department chairs to instructional coaches through tailored modules and was awarded the prestigious Shirley Hord Award by Learning Forward.

During her time working in a prison in Mérida, Venezuela, Dr. Racines blended her research in education and criminology, which led to a legal dissertation that was nominated for the Joseph C. Beckham Dissertation of the Year Award by the Education Law Association. Additionally, her research in education law and civil rights for English learners was awarded the Emerald Literati Award for Outstanding Author Contribution. She has also been nominated for ACSA’s Co-Administrator of the Year, and in 2018 she was awarded the Teachers Honoring Excellence Award. Dr. Racines is an author with Edutopia and has authored chapters in Legal Frontiers in Education: Complex Law Issues for Leaders, Policymakers, and Policy Implementers; Polyvocal Professional Learning through Self-Study Research; Teaching to Complexity; and TIME For Kids: Practicing for Today’s Tests with Teacher Created Materials.

Dr. Racines received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Virginia Tech, a master’s degree in criminology from Radford University, a master’s in curriculum and instruction in multilingual multicultural education from George Mason University, and a doctorate in teacher education and educational leadership from George Mason University.
