Under Geri’s leadership, schools throughout Fort Leavenworth Schools earned the Kansas Standard of Excellence for several years for student performance in reading, math, writing, social studies, and science at all grade levels. In 2009, the Kansas Department of Education recognized Patton Junior High School for exceeding this standard in all assessed areas of seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade curricula. From 2004 to 2010, student scores on the Kansas state math assessment increased by 10.8 percent and in reading by 18.3 percent. During those years, Fort Leavenworth narrowed the achievement gap of African American students meeting proficient and above in math by 20 percent and in reading by more than 34 percent. Additionally, Fort Leavenworth Schools were recognized by Dr. Richard DuFour as national models of PLCs.
Geri was the 2011 recipient of the M. Claradine Johnson Award, which recognizes a history of work within the school-improvement process; leadership within the school, district, and/or state; innovation; and service to the school, district, and/or state.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Kansas; a master’s degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City; and a specialist in education degree from Pittsburg State University.

“In a word it was TRANSFORMATIONAL! Geri is a rock star! She was engaging and tailored the training to meet our needs. I will be getting with our principals to go over the training and exit strategy. I cannot say enough about how fantastic Geri was. You could see the teachers making the paradigm shift from teaching to student learning. It was that powerful.”

“We're in a good place with school goals, but we had lots of questions on team goals. Geri listened to our concerns/questions, and she coached to toward the next steps we need to take. She also reiterated the purpose of our guiding coalition team and gave some ideas on how to build that team to be even stronger. ”
“She is helping us to organize and use data to flex group our kiddos . . . Knowledgeable and real. Answered all questions that were asked and added to them.”
