Michelle Dillard

Michelle Dillard is an assistant superintendent for Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky, where she oversees two high schools, three middle schools, fifteen elementary schools, and three Success Pathways schools. She has more than twenty years of leadership experience and specializes in building positive relationships to ensure a school culture of high expectations for educators and students.

Prior to becoming an assistant superintendent, she taught special education and served as a principal for seven years at Christian County Career and Technical School. Most recently she was the principal of Seneca High School, a model PLC school, for more than three years. Under Michelle’s leadership, Seneca High School implemented the PLC at Work™ process and significantly improved student achievement.

She was recognized by AdvanceEd as a principal who creates a positive culture that fosters student success, builds systems and processes to promote student achievement, and implements formative processes for collecting and analyzing data to make informed decisions. Michelle was named the Hilliard Lyons Principal of the Year, won the Louisville Defender 2010 Leadership Award, and was recognized as the 2015 Kentucky Woodmen of the World Outstanding Community Leader. She has written several articles and has presented professional development workshops on school turnaround for districts and universities.

Michelle earned her bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate in special education from Murray State University. She earned her master’s degree, educational administration certificate, school superintendent certificate, and director of pupil personnel certificate from Western Kentucky University.
