Richard E. Ferdig, PhD, is summit professor of learning technologies and professor of instructional technology at Kent State University, where he works in the Research Center for Educational Technology and the School of Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences.
Dr. Ferdig has served as researcher and instructor at Michigan State University, the University of Florida, the Wyższa Szkoła Pedagogiczna, and the Università degli studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia. His research and teaching focus on combining emerging technologies with pedagogic theory to create innovative learning environments.
Dr. Ferdig was founding editor in chief of the International Journal of Gaming and Computer-Mediated Simulations. He is associate editor in chief of the Journal of Technology and Teacher Education. Additionally, he is the consulting editor for the Development Editorial Board of Educational Technology Research and Development and a review panelist for the British Journal of Educational Technology.
Dr. Ferdig earned a doctorate in educational psychology from Michigan State University, a master of arts in educational psychology from Michigan State University, and a bachelor of arts in psychology from Calvin College.
