Tamie Sanders

Tamie Sanders has worked in education for almost 30 years. After teaching at the middle school level, she entered school administration and has made it her mission to improve student achievement. She has become known for her ability to implement successful professional learning communities and to utilize the school improvement model to produce immediate improvements in student achievement. Through her leadership as a principal and district executive director of secondary schools, she has proven that school and district turnaround is eminently achievable. She took the lowest-performing school in the state of Oklahoma to a B+ in just two years.

Tamie has presented research about U.S. Grant High School to the Oklahoma City Public School District and the Oklahoma State Department of Education and presented to educators at Vision 2020 Institutes offered by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. She has received a citation for exemplary academic performance from Oklahoma State Senator Al McAffrey and was featured in Stars of Education magazine, published by the Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools, as a principal making dramatic changes at a low-performing school.

Tamie earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Oklahoma State University and a master of education degree in administration, curriculum, and supervision from the University of Oklahoma.
