Taylor Barton, EdD, is a K–12 school leader in Atlanta, Georgia. He led his high-poverty school to achieve Model PLC at Work® status, and he currently leads a digital school, grades 3–12.

Taylor Barton

Dr. Taylor Barton is an experienced K–12 school leader in Atlanta, Georgia. He specializes in transformational leadership practices, digital learning, and leadership development. As principal of a high-poverty school with a high percentage of English learners, he led his school to achieve Model PLC at Work® status. Currently, he leads a digital school for grades 3–12.

During his tenure in education, Dr. Barton taught in a wide range of levels and settings, including elementary school, middle school, high school, and university levels, in both urban and rural settings. His experience extends internationally from his time teaching in South America. As a school leader, he led various innovative initiatives, including launching a districtwide online school, a K–5 dual language immersion program, and the authorization process of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.

Dr. Barton received the Blumberg/Pajak Scholarship Award for his work on instructional supervision and also won the Outstanding Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership Student Award from Georgia State University. He has presented nationally on school improvement, implementation of the PLC at Work process, and high-leverage leadership practices. Committed to continued learning, he is currently completing the NAESP National Mentor Training and Certification Program through NAESP. He is passionate about high levels of learning for all students and growing leaders in all school contexts.

Dr. Barton holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Furman University, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Maine, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Georgia State University. He also holds a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from the University of Georgia.
