Cortney Lane is a passionate, National Board–certified high school math teacher and instructional facilitator in Quitman, Arkansas. She leads both the high school and elementary math teams and is a member of the guiding coalition in her Model PLC at Work® school district. She advocates for teacher collaboration, which promotes high levels of learning for all students.
During her time at Quitman, Cortney has invested in collaborating with and leading teachers to improve Quitman Schools. In five years, Quitman has grown from the 137th to the 39th ranked district in Arkansas. They have been named in the top 5 percent of growth in math scores by the Arkansas Department of Education, awarded best growth scores in math by the University of Arkansas, achieved Highly Effective Schools accreditation, and become the first Model PLC at Work district in Arkansas. Cortney also served as the executive board secretary for the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics from 2020 to 2021.
Cortney earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Ouachita Baptist University, a master’s degree in teaching from Henderson State University, and additional graduate MATH hours from the University of Arkansas.
