Darlyne de Haan, EdD, is an instructional specialist for the New Jersey Department of Education, where she provided professional development to over 30 school districts labeled as either in need of improvement or a failing school.
Darlyne de Haan
Darlyne de Haan is currently the director of curriculum and instruction for math and science for a school district in southern New Jersey. She also served Pleasantville High School as a teacher and Bridgeton High School as an administrator. Additionally, she is a former middle school vice principal, former instructional specialist for the New Jersey Department of Education, as well as a former supervisor of math, science, and technology. She is a former forensic scientist for the state of New Jersey, a former environmental chemist, an English language specialist for the US Department of State, and an instructional specialist for the New Jersey Department of Education, where she provided professional development to over 30 school districts in New Jersey labeled as either in need of improvement or a failing school. Dr. de Haan also founded Mad About Science, a 501c3 non-profit organization, in 2000, in her mission to make science accessible, exciting, and engaging for educators, parents, and all students.
Darlyne is a recipient of the coveted Fulbright administrator program for Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools, a program sponsored by the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). She was a part of a cohort that traveled to Singapore to partake in the International Education Administrators (IEA) seminars and met with Singapore's Ministry of Education, administrators, teachers, and students.
Dr. de Haan speaks at conferences both nationally and internationally on brain science, best practices in education, culturally responsive instruction and pedagogy, and best instructional practices for English Language Learners and other vulnerable populations. She is a strong advocate for changing the face of STEM to reflect the population of the world in which we live.
Dr. de Haan holds a master's degree of education in curriculum and instruction, a master's degree in educational leadership, and a doctorate in organizational leadership.
