Dixon Brooks

Dixon Brooks has been an educator for 31 years and has spent the last five years at the district level where he serves as the chief instructional officer. Prior to his time at the district level, he served as both a middle school and high school principal. Dixon began his teaching career as a band director before moving into administrative roles. He has worked in diverse and high-poverty schools throughout his career and has implemented systems and processes to ensure that all students can be successful.

Dixon also served as president and in various other roles on the board of the South Carolina Association for Middle-Level Educators. In 2022, he was recognized with the Dr. Randy Wall Distinguished Service Award. In 2012, during his first principalship, his school was recognized as a National School to Watch. Since that time, he has served as principal of two schools that have been recognized as Model PLC at Work® schools.

He earned his doctorate in educational administration from the University of South Carolina, where he wrote about middle school principals’ use of data-driven decision making.
