Doug Lillydahl is director of communication arts at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Illinois. He guides literacy interventions and staff development, oversees ELA assessment, and supports curricular and instructional evolution.

Doug Lillydahl is director of communication arts at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Illinois. He guides literacy interventions and staff development, oversees ELA assessment and achievement data, and supports curricular and instructional evolution in the division’s professional learning communities.
Doug has worked in education for 25 years, mostly as an English and American studies teacher. In addition to teaching at Stevenson and two years in Germany, he spent six years as department chair at Mundelein High School in Illinois, raising overall pass rates in reading—and among Latinx students in particular—to school records. Doug is a former curricular team leader, award-winning swim team coach, and activity sponsor.
He is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Council of Teachers of English, Learning Forward, International Literacy Association, and Illinois Principals Association.
Doug earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and organizational behavior from Stanford University, teaching certification (with English endorsement) from the University of Washington, and a master’s degree in administrative leadership in education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
