Jennifer Novak

Jennifer Novak is an educational leader with a passion for supporting quality mathematics education. She has dedicated most of her career to supporting students, staff, and families in Howard County, Maryland, where she has served in a variety of roles, including mathematics teacher, mathematics coach, and curriculum coordinator. Jennifer currently serves as the director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in Howard County Public Schools, providing leadership in the implementation of standards-based curriculum, instruction, professional learning, and school improvement. She has also served as a mathematics education associate for the Delaware Department of Education, as well as an adjunct professor at McDaniel College and University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Jennifer is coauthor of Mine the Gap for Mathematical Understanding, Grades 6–8 and a lead author on the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM) article, “Culturally Relevant Leadership in Mathematics Education”.

She has served on a number of organizational boards, including the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Delaware Mathematics Coalition, MATHCOUNTS, and NCSM: Leadership in Mathematics Education, for which she is currently serving as second vice-president.

Jennifer has a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a secondary education concentration from Towson University.
