Jeryl Kimbrough-Scott

Dr. Jeryl Kimbrough-Scott is a lifelong educator. For the past three decades, she has served in various capacities from teacher, reading coach, and assistant principal to conference presenter, professional development facilitator, principal, educational consultant, and adjunct faculty. During her career in education, Dr. Kimbrough-Scott has worked to transform school culture and climate through a collaborative approach that involves staff and students. In addition to this transformative work, Dr. Kimbrough-Scott supports schools in literacy, effective strategies for English learners, differentiation, and diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

Dr. Kimbrough-Scott has received many awards, including Teacher of the Year. She has interviewed with WRIC-Richmond regarding school transformation, and she has been recognized through Aspire Academy in Richmond for academic success for at-risk students with the Leadership Achievement Award. She is a member of several education entities, including the Virginia State Reading Association, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals, and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. She also proudly serves in civic and social organizations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Women Education Leaders in Virginia, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Dr. Kimbrough-Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in elementary education from Molloy College, a master’s degree in education from Hofstra University, an educational specialist degree in educational leadership and policy studies from Old Dominion University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Old Dominion University.

Dr. Kimbrough-Scott has presentation experience in both public and private schools, and she also has presented at many state and regional conferences. Dr. Kimbrough-Scott continues to enhance the educational arena through her workshops.
