Josh Chastain

Josh Chastain, EdD, is currently the superintendent of Harrisonville Schools in Missouri. In his 25 years of educational experience, he has served as an elementary school teacher in Springfield, Missouri, a principal at multiple levels, and the director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, professional development, digital learning, and federal programs in Nixa, Missouri.

Dr. Chastain spearheaded Nixa Public Schools’ (NPS) professional learning communities (PLC) journey in 2019. In 2023, NPS was recognized as a Model PLC at Work® district and currently has three Model PLC at Work® schools. Dr. Chastain presented at the Model Schools Conference in Nashville in 2017, showcasing his district’s success in strategic planning. He is passionate about district support and dedication to proper implementation of professional learning communities.

Dr. Chastain received his undergraduate degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in administration from Missouri State University. He earned his education specialist degree and doctorate from Saint Louis University. He serves as an adjunct professor for Southwest Baptist University.
