Dr. Melisha Y. Plummer serves as Assistant Principal at an urban high school in the Atlanta Public School District. With more than 20 years of experience ranging from classroom teacher, instructional coach and school leadership initiatives, Dr. Plummer brings a wealth of knowledge about practical ways schools can infuse and ensure that literacy is embedded in the fabric of urban education.

Dr. Plummer specializes in transforming reluctant readers and writers into engaged learners using relevant and research-based pedagogy. Recognized for her expertise in curriculum, instruction, and teacher development, she provides hands-on coaching and personalized professional development services to educators, including all areas of literacy, personalized learning, engaging instructional strategies, lesson planning, unit planning, differentiated instruction, flexible grouping, tiered assignments, Writing across the Curriculum, and much more. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the Georgia Council of Teachers of English (GCTE).

Dr. Plummer received her bachelor’s degree in secondary English education and a master’s in educational leadership and administration from Florida State University. She completed her doctorate of education from Nova Southeastern University.
