Brandon J. Larson
Brandon J. Larson is a culture builder and leadership expert with over 20 years of experience in education and athletics. An award-winning athletic director, he currently serves at Highland High School in Gilbert, Arizona, where he resides with his wife and four children. Brandon began his career as a football coach, driven by a passion to help young men reach their full potential. Through coaching, he discovered a deeper passion for building relationships and developing intentional cultures in the process.
Brandon is a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA), serving on the Coaches Education Committee, and a board member of the Arizona Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (AIAAA). He was named the Rookie Athletic Director of the Year for Arizona in 2017, as well as Athletic Director of the Year for 3A in 2018 and 6A in 2023. His contributions to these organizations include leading national workshops on organizational skills and technology, as well as teaching professional development classes on communication and current issues in American sports. His service in these organizations continues to fuel his desire to help schools across the country build efficient, positive systems that can withstand adversity.
In 2023, Brandon founded OakStrong Performance and Leadership, a consulting and training organization dedicated to helping individuals and organizations build enduring cultures and leadership skills through implementing his OakStrong principles. As a sought-after speaker and consultant, his work has led to record-breaking athletic achievements and innovative programs that build and retain talent while challenging industry norms.
Brandon received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and history from Ottawa University and a master’s degree in teacher leadership from Grand Canyon University. Currently, Brandon is enrolled in a doctoral program in sports performance psychology with the University of Western States.
