Daniel Evans, Jr.

Daniel Evans, Jr. currently serves as the principal of Moores Mill Intermediate School in New Market, Alabama. Over the past several years, his faculty and staff have focused on ensuring all students learn at high levels. As a result, MMIS was recognized as a Model PLC in 2020. Previously, he served as a high school career technical education teacher and a high school instructional assistant principal.

Daniel was named Principal of the Year for Madison County Schools in December 2020. His dynamic leadership style, unique problem-solving skills, and focus on strategic intervention and extension based on student data have led his school in closing educational gaps between sub-populations of students and increasing overall academic achievement and growth in reading and math.

He is an active member of the Council of Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS), and was awarded CLAS Certified Instructional Leader (CIL) status in 2019 after a rigorous “exit review” with CLAS Board Members and CIL instructors.

Daniel exemplifies and embodies that of a lifelong learner. He graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Agronomy and Soils. After working with farmers in the business sector for five years, Mr. Evans decided to follow in his parents’ footsteps and pursue a career in education. He became the Agriscience teacher at Buckhorn High School, while simultaneously pursuing a fifth-year education degree from Alabama A&M University. After teaching for five years, he felt called to pursue a career in educational leadership. He received his M. Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in instructional leadership from Samford University.
