Matt Devan is director of school support and improvement for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. He provides guidance and feedback to schools as they develop professional learning communities.
Matt Devan
Matt Devan has been a public school educator for two decades, serving as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He is director of school support and improvement for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, supervising, developing, and supporting 38 principals and assistant principals. He provides guidance and feedback to schools as they develop professional learning communities and strive to reach their school improvement goals.
Matt previously served as principal of Viers Mill Elementary School in Maryland. During his tenure, Viers Mill was recognized as a state and national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and a National Title I School of Distinction.
In his presentations and training sessions, Matt shares firsthand experience in developing and sustaining highly effective PLCs. He guides educators through engaging activities and thoughtful discussions that help schools strengthen their PLC work.
Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Messiah College in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Bowie State University in Maryland.
