Tim Brown is an internationally recognized presenter and practitioner who specializes in helping school leaders and teachers align their school improvement efforts across an entire campus and/or district. With innovative strategies, tools and resources, he coaches and supports teachers and leaders in developing efforts that connect the multiple layers of the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Work® process. Tim has published and presented works in support of creating and communicating a culture of high expectations, the power of dispersed leadership, being goal oriented, meaningful collaboration, effective assessment, feedback and grading practices, quality instruction that is learning and learner centered, student ownership and motivation through goal setting and tracking their progress, and multitiered systems of supports. In addition, he has researched and has written specifically about positively influencing student self-efficacy and building back hope through the PLC process.
As a former teacher and campus principal, Tim is a practical and passionate educator who has served in elementary, middle, K–8, and high school settings. After a 28-year career in Springfield, Missouri, Tim worked as a director of PLC for the state of Missouri before becoming a PLC associate for Dr. Richard and Rebecca DuFour, and Dr. Robert Eaker. He shares his experiences and “lessons learned along the way” in a manner that is inspiring and doable.
Today, he serves as an educational presenter, coach, and motivational speaker. Sharing insights and supporting educators and leaders fuels his work. He inspires them to identify what they value and put those values into action. He works to understand the current reality of a school or team and then provides resources, processes, and protocols to move forward.
Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of Central Arkansas and a master’s degree and specialist’s degree in educational administration from Missouri State University.
