Shawna Chambers

Shawna Chambers is a passionate and accomplished educator who has led school improvement at both the school and district levels. She possesses extensive experience across all grade levels K–12 and has worked in a variety of educational settings—including public and charter districts—within Chicago and its surrounding areas. Currently serving as an assistant principal, Shawna has a proven track record of improving student outcomes through effective implementation of the professional learning community (PLC) process.

Shawna has spent more than a decade of her career at the forefront of education leadership, making a significant impact on schools and districts. In her current role, Shawna successfully transformed the school's approach to curriculum, instruction, and assessment by implementing a PLC culture. Prior to her current role, she served as the director of school performance and support at a large charter school network, where she played a crucial role in developing, scaling, and executing the programming model across 16 campuses.

Throughout her career, Shawna has garnered recognition for her contributions to the field of education. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Illinois Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development’s Winn Research Award. Shawna has developed and been recognized for expertise in data analysis, teacher support, and continuous organizational improvement.

Shawna has pursued an extensive educational journey to equip herself with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in her career. Her foundation in education began with a bachelor’s degree in English education from Illinois State University. She also holds a master’s degree in educational organization and leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, she has completed ISBE Micro-Credentials in Exploring and Deepening an Equity Mindset, as well as Guiding Culturally Responsive Instructional Practice.
