Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education and Solution Tree Announce Fifth Cohort of Schools in Professional Learning Communities at Work® Project
Bloomington, Ind. (April 30, 2021)—The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), in partnership with Solution Tree, a national professional development provider, has selected the fifth cohort of schools for their ongoing program to develop and expand the Professional Learning Communities at Work® process across Arkansas.
In addition to the 39 schools and five districts chosen since the project began in 2017, 13 schools and 2 districts have been selected to serve as working models for the professional learning community project for the 2021–2022 school year. As part of the project, these schools will receive up to 50 days of training, coaching and support to build and sustain a strong culture of collaboration that will enhance student learning. (April 30, 2020)—The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), in partnership with Solution Tree, a national professional development provider, has selected the fourth cohort of schools for their ongoing program to develop and expand the Professional Learning Communities at Work® process across Arkansas.
In addition to the 29 schools and four districts chosen in 2017, 2018 and 2019, nine schools and two districts have been selected to serve as working models for the professional learning community project for the 2020–2021 school year. PLC at Work® Project Leads to Higher Student Achievement in Arkansas
Bloomington, Ind. (December 14, 2020)—Research validates the success of Solution Tree’s Professional Learning Communities at Work®️ process in Arkansas. After two years of data, third-party research firm Education Northwest found that the Arkansas Department of Education’s (ADE) PLC at Work project positively impacted mathematics student achievement on the ACT Aspire assessment. Principal of PLC at Work® Project School Wins Top Honor
Bloomington, Ind. (June 9, 2020)—Solution Tree announced today that Darin Landry, principal at Lakeside High School in Hot Springs, has received the 2020 Principal of the Year Award from the Arkansas Association of Secondary School Principals.
“It is because of the work of the staff at Lakeside High School that I have been named Arkansas Secondary Principal of the Year,” said Landry. “Our staff is strong, dedicated and passionate about our students, their success and their futures. In addition to the 19 schools and three districts chosen during 2017 and 2018 as the project’s first two cohorts, 10 schools and one district have been selected to serve as working models for the professional learning community project in the 2019–2020 school year. In addition to the first cohort of 11 schools and one district designated in 2017, eight schools and two districts have been selected to serve as working models for the professional learning community project for the 2018–2019 school year. Arkansas Department of Education and Solution Tree Launch Professional Learning Communities at Work® Pilot Program in Schools
Bloomington, Ind. (August 01, 2017)—The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), in partnership with Solution Tree, announce a new program to develop and expand the Professional Learning Communities at Work® process across Arkansas. Eleven schools and one district have been selected to serve as working models for the professional learning community process, conducting action research and sharing best practices with other schools throughout the state. As part of the program, schools will receive up to 50 days of training, coaching and support to build and sustain a strong culture of collaboration that will enhance student learning.
The schools and district were selected through a rigorous application and evaluation process. A panel of educational professionals knowledgeable of the PLC at Work process reviewed 83 applications and selected the following to receive support from Solution Tree, a national professional development provider that specializes in professional learning communities.
