Tihesha Henderson has more than 21 years of experience in education as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, lead principal, and executive director. Her passion for transforming school culture has led her to create innovative ways to address the social-emotional needs of students and staff. Tihesha’s ability to transform school culture led her school to decrease suspensions by 42 percent and conduct referrals by 56 percent.
Tihesha has received numerous awards and accolades for transforming school culture with high-impact strategies. As the 2021 Principal of the Year and the Darius Leonard Community MVP, Tihesha is changing the landscape of education in Indianapolis. She has published articles about teacher wellness and burnout and how to build safe and caring school communities.
Tihesha earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Indiana State University as well as a master’s degree at Indiana Wesleyan University.
