Vicki Wilson is an author with 30 years of experience as a public school educator, having served as a classroom teacher and a principal. Vicki is passionate about education and strives to make it better every day. She is particularly interested in educator learning, leadership, organizational change, progressive and innovative practices in education, and leveraging best practices to make improvements so that all students learn at high levels.
During Vicki’s tenure as principal of Monroe Elementary School in Wyandotte, Michigan, she and her staff proudly celebrated recognition as a national Model PLC at Work® school. Vicki's vision of leadership is to create a student-centered school that values collaborative learning for both students and adults. Vicki believes in taking risks, learning from mistakes, and finding that sweet spot of presenting challenges and providing support for her staff—and for herself.
Vicki has authored or contributed to several books, including Lead With Instructional Rounds: Creating a Culture of Professional Learning; 100 No-Nonsense Things That All Teachers Should Stop Doing; and 100 No-Nonsense Things That All Administrators Should Stop Doing. She serves on the regional board and committees and also presents breakout sessions for the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA). Additionally, Vicki is a member of and breakout speaker for the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and is a 20-year member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
Vicki earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Michigan University, her master’s degree in elementary education from Wayne State University, and her K–12 general administration certificate from the University of Michigan. She is currently completing a certification program as a mentor and coach for school leaders.
